It is noon and the temperatures are high, but the clouds are building and a friend of mine says her bones ache. Not so good for her, but maybe this is a good sign of a coming snowstorm.
We still working the trails and moving snow in preparation for the next good snowstorm, so we will be ready to open and set tracks. For now the teaching area at Breck Nordic is open, but it is only good for drill training, but not for trail skiing.
There are some trails open up high on the Breck Nordic USDA, FS permit (Peaks 6 & 7) in Breckenridge for snowshoeing. The two destination huts are open for your use. We are renting snowshoes by advanced reservation, but not skis at this time. Call 970-453-6855.
The snowmaking begins in Frisco this week in anticipation of a Thanksgiving weekend opening, but the nightime temps have not been low enough to begin blowing snow.
The Annual Nordic Ski Swap to benefit the Summit Nordic Ski Club is going on this weekend Nov 21 -23rd at the Frisco Nordic Center - Peninsula Recreation Area - 970-668-0866.
You still have time to clear out your garage and storage spaces of new or used ski gear and snowshoes in exchange for store credit or cash. The swap items feature new and used equipment on sale for skating skiing, classic skiing, and backcountry/tele-skiing and snowshoeing, plus related gear.
We hope to see you soon! The Dayton's
Breckenridge and Frisco Nordic Centers open daily 9-4.
